I'm Allison Czarnecki, editor of Petit Elefant, a popular blog about fashion, travel, home & garden. I live in Utah Valley where I work from home while I keep watch over my two school aged children, one boy, one girl, and am married to a guy from Warsaw, Poland who is the love of my life. I love everything style related, especially deep-discount and thrifted fashion found off the beaten track, and consider it my life's ambition to rid the world of "mom jeans".

Summer Make-Up.

It’s hot out.  Really hot.  And when it’s hot {even though it’s not sticky hot, go Utah!} it’s still a chore to get makeup on your face and get out the door.  Then you need to factor in the fact that Summer makeup is not even in the same ball park as Fall and Winter, you’ve got to mix it up a bit to stay fresh and current.

What’s a mama to do?  Don’t worry, I’m here to hold your hand through the process.

1. Tinted moisturizer.

You need to wear moisturizer during the summer, even if you live in a humid place, your skin will thank you.  Now living in Utah?  You need a double dose of the stuff; wear something with a little SPF and you’re golden.  Tinted moisturizer makes you gleam a little, covers up imperfections, and keeps you moisturized and in the SPF zone all at the same time.  Try it, you might be surprised just how much you like wearing it.

2. Light eyeshadow.

Now’s not the time to go with the dark purples and other deep colors for fall and winter.  Keep your eyeshadow light and bright to reflect the wonderful weather outside.  Layer a couple of light golden colors for a really pretty poolside look, and for nighttime mix some light purple with gray to wear to an outdoor night concert with the kids.  Don’t forget: keep it light.

3. Bronzer.

A little touch of bronzer goes a long way to making you look like the tanned foxy minx you know you are.  Tread lightly though, no one wants to see Jersey Shore reenacted by a mom of three at the local pool.  Brush a bit of bronzer just where the sun would naturally hit you: at the top of your forehead, along your nose, and in the curve of your cheekbones.  You’ll be amazed how great it looks on any skin tone as long as you don’t abuse it.

Throw on a little light lip-gloss and you’re on your way to great summer makeup.  No fuss, no frills, just plain sexy.
