Cooking a whole chicken is an economical way to make the protein source go far in your meals. I have to admit I was scared to cook a whole chicken. All those bones and things kind of freaked me out. Plus the yucky skin. However this is hardly yucky at all. All you do is take off the packaging of the chicken and put it in your big crockpot. Put a cup of water in the bottom of the slow cooker, cover, and cook on LOW for about 6-8 hours. The meat should just fall off the bone. If you want you can skin the chicken beforehand but if you’re scared like I was you can just keep it on until it’s cooked and then take it off. My chicken was 5 pounds and it made 5 cups of cooked chicken. I packed it in freezer ziploc bags and will use it in the future for chicken tetrazzini, chicken enchiladas, chicken broccoli casserole, etc. So easy and so cheap!
Hi! I'm Karen, a stay at home mom and blogger. Mostly I write about the new foods and recipes I've been making at my house. I like nutella, avocados, muddy buddies, mushrooms, tomatoes, peaches, berries, beans and rice, dark chocolate, cilantro, peanut butter, fried eggs and a million other types of foods. Most of the time, I like to make really easy and simple recipes--that's why I use my slow cooker a lot! I hope you find my posts helpful! Please comment and let me know when you make one of my recipes!More from this author »
