I am a wife, mother, entrepreneur and writer...and desperately trying to stay sane! When I'm not driving carpool, cleaning crayon off the walls, scraping dried macaroni off the floor or hiding in my closet, I enjoy writing for multiple sites including isthisREALLYmylife.com, SassyScoops.com, BoutiqueCafe.com and TodaysMama.com. Diet Coke and chocolate make it all possible.

Lovin’ the LARABAR

Larabar LogoI haven’t been a big protein-bar fan since I overdosed on Clif bars while training for a marathon a few years ago. I enjoyed a few Luna bars here and there but they left a sort of waxy feeling in my mouth. I tried SOYJOY but didn’t like a single flavor. (I’m still having flashbacks.)  Tired of trial and error, I’ve pretty much stuck to my favorite: Nature Valley Crunchy Granola Bars. That is until I discovered the yumminess, the simplicity, the downright healthy goodness of the LÄRABAR.

Disclaimer: LÄRABAR did not send me a single bar in exchange for this post. I discovered them all on my own and my life snacking has never been the same. And get this—I’m not the only one who loves these gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, non-GMO, vegan, kosher babies. I caught some Dr. Travis Stork on The Doctors touting his love of the LÄRABAR on TV while bustin’ a move on the treadmill today. Coincidence? I think not.

What is a LÄRABAR? According LÄRABAR’s site it is “a delicious blend of fruits, nuts and spices – energy in its purest form. Made from 100% whole food, each flavor contains two to nine ingredients. Pure and simple, just as nature intended.” Did you catch that part about “two to nine ingredients”? That is what most impressed me about this bar. No funky, hard-to-pronounce ingredients on the label.

LARABAR

In fact, my two favorite flavors are Cashew Cookie and Chocolate Coconut Chew. Cashew Cookie has two ingredients: cashews and dates. That’s it. And the Chocolate Coconut Chew has a total of five: dates, almonds, walnuts, unsweetened cocoa powder and unsweetened coconut. Simplicity at its sweetest. The only thing I don’t like about LÄRABAR? The case at Costco does NOT have my two favorite flavors, but if you’re an Apple Pie, Banana Bread or Cherry Pie lover, you’re in luck!

If you want to make a quick, easy and healthy change to your snack habits, dump that ol’ protein bar with preservatives and try something all-natural. You’ll be amazed at how quickly your tastebuds recognize that LÄRABAR as a good-for-you goody. My tastebuds—and my waistline—are loving it!

P.S. The LÄRABAR store has their bars priced at $26.95 for a 16-pack. I’d check out your local grocery store or health food store for better pricing. I found mine for $1 a piece on sale today at Smith’s. Of course the selection wasn’t as impressive as the one online, but as long as they have my two faves I’m good to go!
