Power of Moms Wonderfulness

“Begin with the end in mind” is submerged in my mind.  As I go about my day of laundry, piano practicing, reading, cooking, and trying to stay present, I think about this phrase that was echoed in the Power of Moms retreat I attended on a sunny Saturday afternoon at the home of Richard and Linda Eyre.  Although I attended the retreat by myself, I felt the warmth and love from so many other moms wanting to learn and hear the same things I did.  I came eager to learn to be a deliberate mother. A deliberate parent is one who thinks about what you are doing and where you are going.  Saren and April who created the Power of Moms were AMAZING.  Their calm, but motivating demeanor gave me the reassurance I needed to take these tactics home and use them.

What intrigued me most was the graciousness combined with knowledge that each of the Eyre posterity brought.  Richard and Linda Eyre gave an introduction that hit home.  The key phrase that stuck out for me was I am me…I am here to find the things that work for me and my situation.  That is a profound statement.  I am me, not the person sitting in front of me with cute clothes and totally put together.  I am me, not the amazing mother of 9 (5 of her own and 4 adopted).  I am me, I am here to learn and gain knowledge about my circumstances and my family.

Then each of the Eyre sisters (Shawni, Saydi, and Saren) spoke about different topics ranging from dealing with overload to cherishing moments to thought replacement.

During lunch we had breakout sessions to continue the learning.  GREAT IDEA!  I chose sessions specifically for me and what I felt I needed help on.  I walked away from these with great ideas and being so impressed with other moms.

As the afternoon was upon us, plates of fruit were passed around as we talked about ideas on creating a family legal system, a family economy and family traditions.

All in all, it was a fabulous conference full of love and knowledge.   One that reminded me to be PRESENT (my word for the year).  I came home refreshed and rejuvenated!  Thank you Power of Moms!

This was the group of 100+ ladies that attended the retreat that day.  AMAZING!

Stephanie, thanks so much for this terrific synopsis of our fun retreat in April! We just had another one last weekend and again had so much fun with so many deliberate mothers! I hope you don’t mind that I just tweeted this to our followers. We’re just getting started on that so thanks for this!

Saren and April are really rolling with so many fantastic mothers like you! We’re so glad you came.
