I am a mother to two awesome kids, and have been married to my favorite hubby (okay, my only hubby, but still my favorite!) since October 1999. Our favorite thing to do is get out of the house and find adventures! I am the founder and creator of Enjoy Utah!, a site dedicated to helping families get out of the house and see all that Utah has to offer! I contribute as a blog writer for the Salt Lake Visitors Bureau, and also write CityGuides for SheKnows.com.. I am excited to be a part of Today's Mama! I co-own a DJ Business with my hubby, and also do the online marketing and manage the blog and social media for Gines Auto Service.

Pioneer Day Celebrations 2011

July is a month-long party and celebration in Utah. While the rest of the country celebrates the 4th of July, and then moves on with their Summer, Utah stays in celebration mode to get ready for the 24th of July.

July 24th 1847 is when Brigham Young and a group of pioneers reached the Salt Lake Valley. Many people mistake this holiday for the day Utah received statehood, but that is not correct. Utah received its statehood on January 4, 1896. Utah celebrates this historic day with parades, fireworks, picnics, and historical reenactments.

Below are some celebrations happening around the state. Many organizations have month-long celebrations, so make sure to check out the list now isntead of waiting for the 24th!  Stay tuned to Enjoy Utah! for an updated list, as events are added there frequently.
