I snapped this photo today at the grand opening of H and M at Fashion Place Mall in Murray.
Even though H and M had been open for over four hours, there was still a line up of people around the building waiting to get inside. The security guard told me they were only letting in 30 people at a time. The first 500 customers received mystery gift cards good for anywhere from $25 to $500. Some waited in line 18 hours for this privilege.
My first introduction to H and M was in London and then later in New York. I’ve always had the best luck there with clothes for my kids–but maybe I just haven’t tried hard enough yet. Now that there is an H and M practically in my backyard, I’ll have lots of chances to try. But I’m going to save it for a day when I can just walk in without asking the guard outside the door for permission.
And coming soon is an Apple Store.
Stores like this in my hometown make me feel like I’m living in a big city. Whenever I start to worry about the economy, I only need to try and find a parking spot at Fashion Place Mall. All the shopping going on there makes me feel like things are going just fine.
