I stumbled upon this gem of a book at my local library.
As I thumbed through it I was amazed at how a little imagination and leaves could turn into leaf art.
The boys came up with
A bat hanging from a branch and
A fox. Definitely worth framing!
Don’t forget to dry and press your leaves. Need help? Makes and Takes will show you how.
Art tip from the talented Keersten @ Leap Into Art:
“I think the biggest thing you can do to foster artist ability in kids is to let them express their creativity (and not be looking for the end product that you envision. Having said that, you can get a lot closer to what you want by sitting down with them and doing your own. This is called modeling in child development speak. So instead of saying “Why don’t you make your sky blue?” You can make your own sky blue and say (as if to yourself) “I am making my sky the color of blue I noticed this morning. It was so pretty.” They learn by example and it is more effective than you might think. Also it will be more enjoyable for them to still have control of their project, but possibly choose to do it the way you do.”
