I am not usually one to blog about food, but when I was in Boise for my daughter’s gymnastics competition, we stayed downtown. The Forks Restaurant came highly recommended. I looked at the reviews on maps and decided to give it a try. We got there just before 6 pm on a Friday to find out that you need reservations. They do have a section that is first come first serve. My daughters and I waited about 20 minutes and snagged a table from two gentlemen who were on their way out (Thanks Guys!).
The food was worth the wait. I ordered the BAM Sammy –double-cut house braised maple-spiced bacon, avocado, fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil pesto. Both of my daughters ordered the Urban Burger — a custom brisket and ground sirloin blend, dragged through the garden & Fork burger sauce, with Rosemary Parmesan fries (I had some too). The buns were homemade and they were spectacular! I even broke my gluten free diet to try one (I went gluten free a year ago). Both of my daughters said it was the best burger they ever had.
Forks Restaurant buys local as much as possible and are located in a one of Boise’s oldest downtown landmarks, a historic bank. There is a bar located on the premises, so if that isn’t your thing, be forewarned. At 6 pm on a Friday, I think I was the only one in there with kids, but since I keep duct tape on mine when we are out and about, I didn’t even get any dirty looks. (every time I have taken my kids somewhere nice in San Diego everyone stares at you like you are from outer space and gives you dirty looks, no matter how well they are behaved).
