Chakra Exercise: Throat Chakra (Part 5 of 7)

Hello Beautiful,

The throat chakra is located right in the center of your (you guessed it) throat.  It’s very close in proximity with the heart chakra (see Heart Chakra blog here) so it’s all about speaking from your heart.  The throat chakra is all about the right to speak and be heard.

The color associated with the heart chakra is blue.  The physical traits are the thyroid, parathyroid, hypothalamus, throat, ears, shoulders, neck, and mouth. The throat chakra is about expressing your authenticity.

You’re exercise is Lion’s Breath.  Here’s a lady from back in the 80’s practicing Lion’s breath for a natural face lift!    Every time I do this exercise I get a nice giggle thinking of her…click the picture to watch the full video!



  1.  Sit on heels or stand with hands on knees.
  2. Inhale through your nose leaning slightly forward.
  3. Exhale stretching the mouth & jaws as wide as possible.  Stick your tongue out and down as far  as it will go.
  4. Repeat 3 to 5 times.

Your mantra, “I am honest and authentic.”

This pose will fire up the throat chakra and help release a lot of toxins that have been built up in the lungs as well.  An added bonus is getting over that nasty ego that says how stupid you look.  As I always tell my clients, “If you’re afraid of what people will think of you, just close your eyes!”  That way you can’t see their stares!
