Grocery Savings and Healthy Eating at Sprouts Farmers Market in Utah

tm5I’m always looking for good grocery savings. One of my favorite ways to save is on Wednesdays at Sprouts Farmers Market. Wednesday is Double Ad Day–which means everything on sale last week is on sale ALONG WITH everything on sale this week.  

For me, this means pretty good  grocery savings.  tm5

While Spouts has a great selection of healthy bulk food items like quinoa, lentils and couscous, and a good selection of all things gluten free, I shop there mostly for their produce. Every other Wednesday, I fill up my cart with apples, oranges, strawberries, asparagus, onions, beans, peppers–whatever is on sale–and end up paying around $40.00 at the register. This will last us about two weeks until the next Sprouts produce trip. It’s a little more crowded than usual on Wednesdays, but the layout, especially around the produce, is set to handle a crowd. It is best, however, not to wait until closing time so you still have a large selection. tm3

I’ve also shopped there for good deals on chicken, almond milk, granola and cereals.

Last week, I found Cara Cara Oranges. Ever heard of them? When I asked the produce manager what they were, he cut me a piece right there so I could try it. It’s that kind of a store. And come to think of it, I like it pretty pretty much any day of the week.
