I am a mother to two awesome kids, and have been married to my favorite hubby (okay, my only hubby, but still my favorite!) since October 1999. Our favorite thing to do is get out of the house and find adventures! I am the founder and creator of Enjoy Utah!, a site dedicated to helping families get out of the house and see all that Utah has to offer! I contribute as a blog writer for the Salt Lake Visitors Bureau, and also write CityGuides for SheKnows.com.. I am excited to be a part of Today's Mama! I co-own a DJ Business with my hubby, and also do the online marketing and manage the blog and social media for Gines Auto Service.

A Lifetime Of Travel In One Year: Benefit for Brenden Sorensen

What would you do if you knew you would lose your sight within the year? Probably see all that you could while you still have your vision to see it.

That’s exactly the challenge this Salt Lake City family is facing. Their son has been diagnosed with Usher’s Syndrome, which will cause him to lose all of his vision by this time next year.

In addition to preparing him by sending him to camps for the deaf and blind, they want him to see the world.

Help them raise the money by attending the fundraiser listed in the flyer, or just donating money to their cause.

Could you provide an address to send a donation to the family?

I know Brenden’s real mother, Shanna who he lives with full time with his brother in AZ. I think people need to know that all the proceeds from this benefit will only be going to his father and stepmom. His mother was purposely left out of this and told none of the proceeds cover any type of travel with her. She has spent 10 years in school working toward a degree that specializes in what he needs. If he wanted anyone on trips with him it would be her. This is truly disheartening and I think people who are donating need to know the real story. His dad won’t even add him to his medical insurance and I know that has made her upset for a long time, especially given his special needs.
